No arguably about it, one of the pre-production He 219's, flown by a man named Werner Streib I believe, destroyed five lancasters in one night.

Actually, arguably is exactly the right word. It was a good aircraft and it had a number of advanced features, however they made too few of them and they had to deal with an entirely different target set than their Allied counterparts to say whether one or the other was better.

Thanks. Hopefully I'll be able to see a restored one soon at the local museum.

Anyway, more progress.

I'm dithering about doing the livery because I'm having a hard time finding photos that shows it and the ones I do have are all in Black and White.

Now with landing gear.
Even though I know how and why, I still can't keep from wondering how it keeps from tipping over.

After looking at pictures it's looks like the wight of the engines is preventing it from tipping.
She has a very narrow hull and the aft hull is probably very light weight with only one purpose and that is to carry the tail, nothing else. her main weight are most likely from the wing and forward. (electronics, engines, cockpit, weapons etc.

I saw one of the two fly over our house a couple of weeks back quite low and quite loud, wondered what it was orignally but upon inspecting the photos I took I noticed what it was and was like "ooh".

The liberators look lovely, any chance of seeing the later turreted versions?
