Actually, you may not know this, but before that 747 variant you mentioned was planned, there was also an NLA (New Large Aircraft) design dubbed the 747-X that looked a lot like the A380 but with a circular cross section and 12 abreast seating on the main deck and 8 abreast on the upper deck. The base design was about 230 feet long from nose to empennage with 3 class seating for 612 passengers, and the largest variant was 280 feet long, with a 290 foot wingspan, a MTOW of 1.7 million lbs, a 24 wheel landing gear setup, and 3 class seating for at least 800 passengers.
