Sonderson J-4 Seeadler
[ img ]
By 1941, Cenet was looking to replace their Nakajima B5N torpedo bombers, which were quickly nearing obsolecence. By November of that year, a contract was awarded to Sonderson of it's 3-manned J-4 design. Introduced in Autumn of the following year, the Seeadler, as it was called, had begun to phase out it's predecessor. The Seeadler was quite nimble, and exceeded the maximum speed of the B5N. In combat, J-4's scored many hits on enemy vessels. During the Nuetrality Period of 1943, production of J-4's, along with most other military goods, slowed, and started back up again after Cenet joined the Allies. After the war, most J-4's were retired by 1954, but many were repurposed as test-beds and experimental ASW aircraft.

Really interesting design especially the engine
I'm a bit curious on the speed though because the B5N was not exactly a speedster by any means at the time being surpassed by several torpedo bombers in speed by 1942. You'll be looking at a 215 mph maximum speed which would make it extremely vulnerable in combat unless heavily escorted.
THats not really a huge fault however a essentially all torpedo bombers had that flaw anyways and adds a lot of realism to the AU by using a not perfect design

Hey Raxar, I strongly suggest that you adopt the Northrop 8A aka the A-17 Nomad for your dive bomber.

Very believable design and like the name as well. I hope to see more about your AU's history because it sounds very exciting!

Not lobbying, Rhade, but rather suggesting a better aircraft, lesser known and used.

Thanks everyone!
@Trojan: The slow speed I said was mostly due to me being up late at night and not bothering research.  I plan on updating the info, including general specs, which will include a higher top speed (around 255-260).
@Nighthunter: Thanks, but I plan on sticking with the Val, primarily because it's newer, faster, and more importatly, Japanese, as Cenet is in an Alliance with Japan until 1943.

Interesting choice of colors for a Demonstration team.
