And what abouth Serjeant your right its the oficial spelling of it before and even afther world war 1 and appeared in such publications as King's Regulations and the Pay Warrant, witch defined the various ranks. In common usage the modern spelling Sergeant was already more usual . The Royal Green Jackets and The Light Infantery still used it .
