Thanks, Eswube! Your feedback of veteran artist is very important!

This is a spanish coast defence gun: Ordoñez 155 mm model 1885.

Numerically was the most important gun in the defence system of Havana and San Juan during the spanish-american war of 1898.

It was of an inner steel tube (since the "E" from "entubado", tubed) with wrougth iron coils ("HS" or "hierro sunchado") sourrounding it, keeping the compression of the inner tube. Initially it was built with any recoil mechanism, latter a pair of hydropneumatic cilinders were attached to the plataform. It was a dependable gun, much cheaper than Armstrong or Krupp guns, but with less range and penetration.

The gun had active service until the Spanish Civil War, and due the critical situation of Europe, until 1945 despite its obsolescence. Cheers.

Good afternoon:
This is one of the most known Krupp coast guns, 305 mm L/35 Model 1887.
[ img ]
It was the most heavy gun of the spanish forts of Havana during the 1898 Spanish American War (but I don´t have any picture of it in Cuba, so I don´t know if it was painted green or dark gray; possibly the last one, but I am not sure). And was also one of the most important guns of the batteries (3 in San Sebastian battery) around Cadiz during the Spanish Civil War, mounted in high barbette central pivot carriages. Cheers.

PS: I will be very pleased with a picture or photograph of the Krupp 280 L/22, specially in turkish (Dardaneles forts) service. ;) Thanks!

I find it interesting that you chose to draw coastal artillery, and appreciate that you label it for the rest of us.
