Post subject:  PT boats in FD scale

Something I had been working on for a while, at some point I figured that SB scale was too limited to render small boats, and even MD scale would prove too much of a challenge and a tiny drawing, so I tried my hand once more in FD. I had previously drawn a few 110ft submarine chasers at this scale.
Sadly I am now categorized as an essential worker so my available time hasn't increased at all lately, thus I have not finished any more boats than these.

I also would like to invite anyone else who wants to show smaller boats in this scale to post them here.

MTB 234, 21st MTB Flotilla, 1943

MTB 234 was a Vosper 73 ft Motor Torpedo Boat. This scheme is based off of models found on the internet and, while I haven't found a photograph of 234 herself in this scheme, seems to correspond to the scheme worn by her flotilla mates. She is armed with two 21" torpedo tubes, a single Oerlikon 20mm cannon and a twin .50" Vickers machine gun turret.

LS4 Esau

LS4 Esau was a very interesting boat. Assigned to Auxiliary Cruiser Michel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_au ... ser_Michel), she was a veritably tiny boat. Part of the LS series of schnellboot, she was fitted with two lightweight MB 507 diesel engines and armed with two 45,7cm torpedo tubes, four depth charges and a turreted 15mm MG 151. She is credited with sinking six merchantmen between 1942 and 1943. Her scheme is based on the photograph below.

VS 10

Now here's a quirky one. A Never Were, this drawing is a speculative configuration if VS 10 had been turned into a service schnellboot. It's a mashup between the plans in Harald Fock, Schnellboot, Vol. 2, Köhlers Verlagsgesellschaft, Gaijin's VS 10 in War Thunder and other inputs. Her electronic outfit consists of a Fumo 84 Berlin II on the mast top, a FuMB-26 Tunis on its own pole, and a HF/DF aerial aft of the mast. Her camouflage is based on an S-100 operating in the baltic late in the war with the 8th S-Boote flotilla. She is armed with two 53,3cm torpedo tubes and six 15mm MG 151.

That's it for now. Given my work schedule I probably won't be posting another one for a few weeks but there's a lot more I'd like to draw. Once more I encourage anyone else who wants to try drawing some of these in FD scale to post the results here.

FD scale lends itself well to these boats.

Excellent work!
Just one question: are the gun turrets on Dornier and Sachsenberg empty frames, or are they glass-covered? (in which case they color should match the window/porthole blue)

The artist for the game War Thunder have done them in glass, probably Plexiglas, so the color should be a bit different then glass

Fair enough, but if there is some "filling" there (regardless if normal glass or plexiglass or some other material), then IMHO it should be made clearly visible (by using some blue shade - same as elsewhere or different to account for other material, but still some).

The german gun turrets are covered in plexiglas yes, this shows up in a few pictures and there were different kinds of turrets.

I've updated the images now, In order to not cover up the detail inside I've tried a method fashionable with some fellas in here, let me know what you think.
