My rare weigh-in on this sort of matter: yes. You don't get to keep everything.

We have a word for people who refuse to throw things away. But its still sad that she's being sold.

And with Osbourne threatening more budget cuts what else may be sliced off?

HMS Ocean, HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark most likely.

They are to young and to important to the royal Navy. I think they have to rearrange the entire Military, Just as we did here in Norway!

This leads to an interesting question then, and one that may be better in a separate thread...how does the RN "reorganize" in the face of probable budget cuts? What sort of strategic plan could be compiled and how would that affect the number and types of warships in service?

Well, other then the British Overseas Territories I don't see a lot of a need for long-range naval operations. I also don't see the need for nearly as much nuclear deterrent. The British Navy being so strong was a product of it's needs as a massive colonial empire and the naval races of old.

OK so what does that mean for the planned aircraft carriers? One is already supposed to go to reserve. Does either survive? Especially with the changes in development of the F-35...Also, does this mean the end of the SSNs?

If the Government had it's way we would not have a navy we would have a large coast guard instead. :|
