For everyone who thought the LCS were an interesting but unworkable, underarmed, undermanned concept, the USN has FINALLY figured it out.

Now we have to wait and see if the Navy's fix of single use ships based on the two LCS models now being built or it will follow the GAO and start over maybe being based on a foreign design.

Got a source for that, except that blog? Because the article starts by quoting itself - which is always a good sign - and I can't find the same content anywhere else, except on Freep bluntly copy-pasting the article above.
Now, absence of proof is no proof of absence, but same-date news from more official sources paint a slightly less straightforward picture: from what I understand, the first four LCS ships will be turned to non-deployable status and used for training and tests, while more sailors will be assigned to the program to start a major training build-up following the engineering incidents of last month which caused all ships to be temporarily stood down. Nothing on the program stopping altogether.
Now granted, there was an announcement on mission profiles being reduced by ship division, but this seems related to crew training rather than the module sub-programs per se. An engineering review is due in 1 or 2 months, so we should expect more alarmist headlines by that time.
