At 0410 this night, the Norwegian Frigate HNoMS Helge Ingstad sendt out a Mayday after have collided with a tank ship with 625000 tons of oil.

What we know to now, is that:

Frigate:
- takes in a lot of water
- a laying heavy on stern
- have started to list a bit
- have been ran aground, bow first.
- every single crew member are evacuated, coast Guard have taken command.
- 20+- crew members injured
- it's a danger for here to sink.
- leaking fuel

Tank boat:
- no to my minimal damage
- all crew okay
- no leakage.

Pictures and other information will I come with at a later time

This is bad, really, really bad.

They blame frigate for collision.

Well... Ægir save him. If that will not be total loss then that ship will spend a lot of time in drydock. Look at the size of that wound.

Looks very serious.

I know in all recent cases of ramming, naval vessels have hit fully laden cargo vessels, but I wonder how strongly built and survivable modern naval vessels really are? Has the drive to reduce weight and cost gone too far?

How's to blame, I would trust maritimbulletin about that.
The tank boat was on it's way out in to a main sea lane with a tug. The frigate was in the lane on it's way back from exercise. But with the transponder turned off

The latest is that they have control of the situation and are preparing to move the frigate

Looks really bad indeed, that gash seems possibly a third of the ships length. The more she lists, the more of that said gash will go underwater and increase the flooding.

We are here in Norway start asking, how solid is the ship build. It's supposed to withstand a lot
