Polls Now Open and Challenge Rule Changes
The submission period for the FRAM Can Challenge has concluded. Further entries will not be included in the community poll.
Speaking of the poll, members of the Shipbucket community can now rate each entry here.

A poll with options for the next challenge is also open. However, before you vote, I would like to discuss some changes that will affect future challenges. First, the inclusion of decorative elements in drawings such as figures, flags, additional equipment, and encyclopaedia-style formats will be restricted. You will be limited to figures shown in crew positions and one ship badge, unit insignia, manufacturer logo, national flag, or naval ensign. Any information that would have been included in an encyclopaedia-style element can be placed in your submission post as text. Second, unless there is a specific reason for a challenge to include more than one drawing, only one drawing will be permitted per participant. The aim of these changes is to provide greater emphasis on the subject of the challenge itself and excellence in our drawing style rather than elements which, though often interesting and well executed, are ultimately spurious. They are also intended to provide everyone a common understanding of what should and could be included in a challenge.

The poll for the next challenge is here. The options are:
1. 1965 Strategic Reconnaissance Aircraft (FD Scale)
- Your submission must be a fictional strategic reconnaissance aircraft.
- The aircraft, expected to enter service in 1965, should be capable of surviving anticipated missile and interceptor threats.
- Sensors should include a side-looking imaging radar and a camera with a ground resolution of 6 inches (15 cm) at the aircraft's operating altitude.

2. Revisit a Previous Drawing (Not Shipbucket Scale)*
- Your submission should consist of a drawing you previously completed in a non-Shipbuket scale and a new, improved version of that drawing. The existing drawing should be nominally complete and not unfinished.
- The new, improved drawing should be in the same scale as the original.
- Your improved drawing should show the same entity as the original. If your existing drawing depicted a Type 80 rifle from the Republic of Abstractia, the improved drawing should also show the Type 80 from Abstractia. However, you can make changes to improve the realism of the design.

3. Mobile Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile Challenge (FD Scale)**
- Your submission must depict a fictional mobile surface-to-air missile system.
- The missile system should have a range of at least 100 kilometres (62 miles).
- Your drawing should include the following: missile, launcher, command post, surveillance radar, engagement radar. Other elements, including duplicates, are not permitted.

* Scores will be for 'artistic improvement', not the standard 'drawing quality' and 'design quality'.
** Due to the size of these systems, views will be restricted to side only.

Both polls will run until the 9th of June, ending at 23:59 (UTC-12). (Countdown Timer)

Next Challenge Option Change
In response to feedback on Discord I will be changing the second challenge option, 'Revisit a Previous Challenge', to 'Revisit a Previous Drawing' with the following requirements:
- Your submission should consist of a drawing you previously completed in a non-Shipbuket scale and a new, improved version of that drawing. The existing drawing should be nominally complete and not unfinished.
- The new, improved drawing should be in the same scale as the original.
- Your improved drawing should show the same entity as the original. If your existing drawing depicted a Type 80 rifle from the Republic of Abstractia, the improved drawing should also show the Type 80 from Abstractia. However, you can make changes to improve the realism of the design.

Response editing is now enabled on the poll should you wish to change your vote.

The community poll is now closed. I wish to thank the 15 people who responded before the deadline. The 'FRAM Can' topic did not attract the same attention as past Shipbucket challenges, so I am certain the 9 people who did participate are grateful you took the time to recognise their work.

Congratulations to Shigure who achieved first place with the Shannon class, an excellent warship from the world of Antara which achieved 267 points. They also achieved the highest score in both categories. Brilliant work! Everyone should check out the Antara thread if they have not yet done so. There is a lot of great art there. Following in second place with 251 points is Remorseful Dreamer and their destroyer FNS Bale. Fantastic job! In third place, a mere two points behind Remorseful Dreamer, is Imperialist's SMS Z-48 Zacharias Dietz. Both Shigure and Remorseful Dreamer appear to have been inspired by similar real-life designs. It is wonderful to see an alternative design philosophy appearing in the top three.

The 1965 Strategic Reconnaissance Aircraft Challenge is now open for those wishing to participate.
