Hello everyone.

With the conclusion of Regia's cruiser submarine challenge, I have decided the start another. This one is rather simple, you'll need to design a cruiser under the limits of the Washington Naval Treaty.

-The vessel must be a cruiser displacing either EXACTLY or LESS than 10k tonnes standard and cannot have a main gun calibre exceeding 203mm.
-A SpringSharp report is recommended. If you are unfamiliar with how to use SpringSharp you can get someone to make a report for you. This is done in order to see whether or not you are cheating. The 10k tonnage limit is strict! Not one ton over the limit, or you are disqualified.
-You may make as many entries as you wish.
-Entries close on 30 April, the winner will be decided that day.

I'll post an oldie, but goldie. Fits both the WNT and the LNT I/II.

Seeing the aparrent lack of light cruisers between the Omaha and the Brooklyn, I decided to make a light cruiser inspired by a picture I found of the starting point for the Brooklyn class. It has 12 6 inch guns in 4 triple turrets, and interestingly enough, 4 dual 5 inch turrets. On my drawing I used the ones I drew for my American entry into the 25.000 ton BB/BC "competition." The turret is based on the turrets I have seen on early 30s design battleships, you can find them in Friedman's US Battleships.

The Phoenix is the same size as the Brooklyn, 185 meters long and 18 meters wide. Top speed is 33 kts, range is 10000 nm at 10 kts. Armor is also very similar to the Brooklyn, armor belt is 5 inches thick. The turrets are 6 inches at the front, 2 inches on the sides and the rear, the barbettes are 6 inches thick. The conning tower is 5 inches thick. The armor belt covers all the front turrets, and the #3 turret aft. The armor belt goes as deep as the knuckle, so I guess it kinda blends in with it, if that is even possible. Overall it looks alot like the New Orleans class.

Yes, more placeholders please as drawings are difficult and springsharp reports are not :)

Shigure - please remember that Springsharp is a very flawed program - Do not rely on it for anything.

My entry is a set of drawings for Alternate British County class cruisers depicting both as it was completed and with refits to the start of WW2.

If somebody wants to play with Springsharp and print a report, go to it.

Yes, getting a good Springsharp report requires nearly as much skill as a good Shipbucket drawing!

I can already see a few issues with Kannevets' SS report, not least the overall hull strength of 1.27. Ideally you should aim for 1.00 and if you've got that much excess strength then you've probably got too much hull or not enough realistic weight. I'm not sure the layout of the 32 5in guns makes sense either from the report.

Yes, I have to also ruin the party bit By reminding that this is Shipbucket forum, not springsharp forum. So if OP makes out threads in the drawing section which somehow engourages others to produce text posts rather than pictures, some moderation action may have to take Place. I've always told people that this is a Drawing and art community, not pseudo-engineering design forum.

I've made them optional now. I've requested them in order to make this contest fair because it's really easy to lie about your tonnage. I mean they did it IRL
