Petrel announced today the final wreck off Samar that they found was a Fletcher-class destroyer they believe to be USS Johnston. She lies in various unrecognizable pieces at a depth of 20,406 feet, and is officially the deepest shipwreck ever discovered. While I applaud the Petrel crew for achieving this, it is a tragedy that these pieces are all that remain of a proud fighting ship. |

Not surprised that she's in pieces considering the IJN did their best to reduce her to individual components, still glad they found such a proud ship EDIT, I just had a look at the footage, that's really fragmented |
