What programs do you use to draw?

The recent completion has made me realize that MS paint might not be ideal if you want to make ship up to the modern standards, what do you use?

Ideally I would like something with layers etc to avoid having to do each pixel by hand it would also be free (or at least not to expensive) and relatively easy to use or at least learn?

I have always used MS paint.

Some use Photoshop or Gimp (Gimp is free)

You also have paint.NET

MS Paint, the one from Vista.

I am a huge proponent of GIMP.

It's 95% MS paint for me.
I've become very fond of paint.net for camos and tracing of images, though.

Always used MS Paint, the one from XP, and I still use it.

XP MS Paint on Windows 7, sometimes MS Paint of W7 as well.

Paint.net mainly, for Windows 7 on my desktop, but i’ll use MS Paint on my laptop.
