As always, GD, wonderful drawings. Very curious weapon arrangement, they are somewhat semi-dreadnought battleships.

The shading on the turrets and amidship sponsons look really nice. :)

An exellent way to commemorate the "14 juillet" (bastille day).

Hi again!

Another redraw of one of my own: The French battleship Bouvet.

The last of the five battleships which were sometimes listed as the Charles-Martel-Class, although they had nothing in common except the general armament layout and looked as different from each other as... five completely different ships. Bouvet was the last, best and by far the least ugly one of that group, although she was still an impractical design with poor seakeeping and substandard firepower (two different main gun calibers - two 305mm and two 275mm guns in single turrets - AND two different secondary gun calibers - 138mm in single turrets and 100mm in single shielded mounts; fire control must have been a nightmare). She was the first French ship with face-hardened Nickel-steel armour, but a large hull area remained wholly unprotected.

She was commissioned in the black / toille mouillee livery in 1898, then had white superstructure for some time around 1900, and then again buff till 1908. In 1907/8 she was reconstructed in an effort to reduce topweight and improve her atrocious rolling behaviour; the charthouse was lowered, the mantle of the forefunnel cut down, some superstructure forward was removed and half the 100mm guns and both torpedo tubes were landed. In this guise, she went into the first world war.

During the allied assault on the Dardanelles, she received several hits by Ottoman coastal artillery, then struck a single mine amidships directly adjacent to the 275mm magazines. She blew up, capsized and was gone; virtually her entire crew went down with her.

Greetings
GD

Usual quality.
Forgive me, but I cannot remember right now if you had drawn the other four half-sisters or if you will draw (or re-draw) them for this thread.
