If the wind force alone is enough to fling containers around no spoiler or wind break in the world is going to help because you've just found a tornado.

Imoto claims a 5% fuel savings due to reduction in air resistance, which quite surprised me.

So I'm talking about streamlining, and not about the clamping force of air :?

The sidelight has to be placed where it can be viewed from "right ahead." This would mean that you would place it where the bow starts to bend in toward the stem. This is why they are often mounted on the bridge wings. They usually have the visibility both forward and abaft the beam that is required by the rules.

It also has to be mounted where it can be accessed for bulb changes, but with the advent of LEDs, this is less important.
Looking at the drawing, where would you personally mount it?
Probably just abaft the name on the bow or on the bridge wing if you move the mast a little farther aft. With your centerline lights (masthead lights) on the roof of the bridge and at the top of the mast, that would give you good visibility and separation of the lights.
