The Yugoslav Zmaj (Dragon) was built in Germany as a seaplane tender for the Royal Yugoslav Navy in 1928–30. She does not appear to have been much used in that role and was converted to a minelayer in 1937. Captured by the Germans in 1941, she was renamed Drache (Dragon) and redesignated as an aircraft tender and later as a troop transport, before she was rebuilt as a minelayer in 1942. She laid one minefield in 1943 that sank two Allied destroyers and badly damaged a third in the Aegean Sea. Drache was also used by the Germans to evaluate the shipboard use of helicopters for reconnaissance purposes. She was sunk by Allied aircraft in 1944 at Samos and scrapped in place after the end of World War II.

Displacement: 1,870 metric tons (1,840 long tons)
Length: 83 m (272 ft 4 in)
Beam: 13 m (42 ft 8 in)
Draft: 4 m (13 ft 1 in)
Installed power: 3,260 shp (2,430 kW)
Propulsion: 2 shafts, 2 MAN Diesel engines
Speed: 15 knots (28 km/h; 17 mph)
Range: 4,000 nautical miles (7,400 km; 4,600 mi)
Complement: 145
Armament:
2 × 1 – 83.5 mm (3.29 in)/55 Škoda AA guns
2 × 2 – 40 mm (1.6 in)/67 Škoda AA guns

Nice work! I had an eye on that ship for years, but I never could find any information on her underwater hull. Will there be a version of her in German service as well?

Looks nice.

I've just re-read some of the information I had on the ship and I think it might be suitable to do two or even three German versions, as the ship was rebuilt and refittet multiple times. I will come back with more information on the ship later today or tomorrow.

Also, you are missing the "h" in "Drache".

Excellent drawings, its very nice to see the Zmaj shown here.
One of the lesser known seaplane tenders but with a very varied history.
