Have done a retro ASW Frigate for the RAN (late 1970's/early 1980's vintage). Specifications are to follow.

Some of the equipment can be replaced with new one. That will be perfect.

- Torpedo tubes is wrong there are new one's out there. I don't know why those still exist.

Nice. You should enter it in the NATO ASW thread.

As for parts, the Mk 42 gun, and the torpedo tubes are in the USN parts thread (same with the WM series egg radar), while the updated SH-3s haven't been done in RAN livery yet (they are floating around here someplace).

One other thing that confuses me is that it looks live you've got the Ikara launcher arm on a platform that is cantilevered out over the side of the ship, which would be weird.

Oh the Sonar dome - just copy one off of a Spruance - It's very nearly the same thing that was used on the USN DE/FFs.

So there is a hull cut out?

Why don't you just sink the launcher into a well in the deck and put it on the center line?

Changes made. Ikara launcher now lowered into a well deck aft of the flightdeck. The 5inch has also been updated with the most recent rendering (thanks to TimothyC).

Awesome! Handsome, yet powerful! You managed to draw the hull in such a manner to allow it to exude strength, an almost brute force yet have grace and speed associated with it. I very much like the colors too. Too bad it's only a "what if".

Actually a few designs here and there had hull cut-outs for Ikara, mostly Type 1x frigates and IIRC even an early Perth proposal. Couldn't tell you why though, on the face of it it does seem kinda stupid.
