Finaly the Third one of my december 2010 remodeling atempts. This one owns lot to the exelent drawings of Tomas Grotnik that has done quite remarkable warship drawings to Polish military magazines.

This is also bit oddly worked as I orginally drew it for AU purposes and altered it while still on the "docks"...then I had to revert it back to its orginal ways for proper uploading.

Like I promised, this one was the last of this years drawing, I shall now retire to the nice holidays...I'll have some major AU rehauling process going on, so I shall return with a proper red menace that will make your western "freedom" fleets creak in their piers...

One of the motivators was the casually popping horrible Type-15A Kolkata renditions of the old drawing that simply made my eyes bleed...

Neat.

I must admit, I'm pretty impressed at Indian shipbuilding and military design over the last few years, what with their design confluence of Russian and Western design cues - and some of the most powerful weapons I've seen, like the BrahMos. A very impressive-looking bit of warship design. Does anyone know if the ships perform as well as they look?

The only critism I'm aware of (so far) is re the Brahmaputra class: apparently the welding was sub standard, and lots of commentators have worried over the loading on what is basically a Leander hull. But the Delhi class seem to have been ok; and yes, a most interesting fusion of disparate weapons and senosrs :)

My rendition of the Kolkata was not that great, but I have plans to redo it. I did modify the old drawing to include the modifications on the hangar.

I think we all should wait untill there are either good close-ups or linedrawings of the Kolkata...there is no need to rush in when the reference are poor.

Yeah, they've got some of that old school USSR feel to em while being just that little bit more modern. Very nice ships. I'm still amazed at the midships torpedo launcher though. That just gives it a bit of that WWII feel.

Although Golly, that LW-08 search radar, that really needs to be replaced with the new version
