In February 1958 BOAC began its first non-stop transatlantic service with the Avro Atlantic airliner, based on the wings of the Vulcan bomber. BOAC had operated some shorter commerical routes during late 1957 on its Empire routes and to European capitals. It was the first Avro 'flying-triangle' to reach Moscow in July 1958.

Not content to see a good thing wasted the RAF managed to get the Trreasury to approve the purchase of ten Atlantic C.Mk.1 transports alongside its five Comet C.Mk.4 transports. These were in use until 1975.

That would've rather had been a very odd plane to board actually, with very little of a traditional "tail" as seen on others and being much larger than the parent Vulcan.

All we have to figure now is, how big is the FAA and which FAA squadron is a fighter squadron.
I sepose that UK didn't involve in Sueze debaco and retain some wealth though the African colonies.

The Avro 774. This was one of several designs tendered to OR.350 for a maritime patrol aircraft superior to the Breguet Atlantic in performance in 1960. Avro offered this aircraft powered by four Rolls-Royce Tyne turboprops, the 775 with two Tynes and a rear-mounted RB.168 turbofan. In 1961 Avro offered a modified Trident, the 776. OR.350 was replaced by OR.381 for a more advanced aircraft and eventually the Hawker Siddeley Nimrod filled that requirement.
