On the old discussionboard I posted my first attempt to draw in the shipbucket standard and I am now done with my massive ship.
The changes done to it was to redo the hull, install a 2nd rangefinder for the secondary artillery and finish the masts
I also did an attempt on drawing the underwater hull aswell by looking at drawings here on the board.
I feel that I should have some sort of radar on it aswell but I dont know where to put it

a few points:
*turrets look a bit small, but that might just be the massive look of your huge ship
*secondary arnament is really A LOT!
*this smokestack might not be enough IMHO, but I'm not sure about that
*fix the shading
*I'd like to see an hangar for the seaplane you want to launch midships. don't say there isn't space for it! :D
*radar might be placed on the mast.
*rudder looks weird.

some questions:
*what is that thing on the stern??
*what time era is this thing placed in?
*why is the armor belt that huge?
although it is looking good, I think you still have some work to do ;) I might be wrong about some points, I am not an expert on ships of this time era ( and not an expert in general)

A very fine attempt, but in my opinion (I'm not an engineer), I think the funnel is too far back.
From the enclosed image you can see what I mean
Also take a note of the HMS Vanguard or other British battleships, as regards the bridge structure

*turrets look a bit small, but that might just be the massive look of your huge ship
The turrets are 16 inch Mk1 from the RN weaponsheet so I think you are right about your idea that the ship is just huge :D

*secondary arnament is really A LOT
A big ship should carry alot of punch!

*this smokestack might not be enough IMHO, but I'm not sure about that
The original drawing that I started on actually had two smokestacks but I went for poor speed rather then having another ugly smokestack hehe

*fix the shading
Im still learning about it but just wait and I will be better :ugeek:

*I'd like to see an hangar for the seaplane you want to launch midships. don't say there isn't space for it!
I am thinking about switching place with the stack and the crane with catapult that way I can also satisfy Novice good tip about it being a bit cramped inside

*radar might be placed on the mast.
Will do!

*rudder looks weird.
Not satisfied with it either but I draw it after the rudder of Bombheads Vanguard drawing, I just made it a bit bigger but i will rework it

some questions:
*what is that thing on the stern??

On the stern is a gangway fitted, since its a much more impressive view of the ship if you first need to pass it and then go onboard at the stern to see the ship building up like a mountain 8-)

*what time era is this thing placed in?
1944-1945

*why is the armor belt that huge?
To impress and also of course to protect since its a rather slow ship

although it is looking good, I think you still have some work to do I might be wrong about some points, I am not an expert on ships of this time era ( and not an expert in general)
Its an ongoing progress that I am looking forward to ;)

@Novice
Yeah You are right its a bit cramped but as I wrote earlier in this post I am thinking about switching place with the stack and catapult setup

@Alvama
Thank you I appreciate any such comment from you!

In drawing wise this is great work. Shading seems to be OK and shaddowing actually still leaves some playground (thougth not nesserically need any alterations.)
I adjoin however the novice's concern about the interial layout. Best thing to do when desing ship of your own, is to think the machinery into place. aside the weapons its the seccond most crucial feature that affects the looks of the superstructures in any ship size or class.

As you have drawn her in RN colours I think it would appear more British looking with the funnel behind the bridge and catapult behind that.Very good 1ST attempt.Just a suggestion I woud give her a heroic name eg Colossus,Orion, etc

Hm. Perhaps substitute a Walrus for the Arado Ar-196?

Doesn't look too unreasonable, at least to me...

Very nice, thought it looks as if during the initial design of her, she was planned to be armed with a 3rd forward turret that got scrapped after construction began.
